Alternative Humane Societies Four Legged Approach
Published on 05.27.2013

The excitement is building as there are only 5 days left until a June 1st filled with good fun, food, mood and music! This day also of course stands as an opportunity to recognize and support all of the positive and amazing organizations of people we are lucky enough to have here in Whatcom county. It is from the support of the entire community that their causes are able to be sustained now and into the future. Your local non profits need your donations to keep going so please continue to rally in support of The Race!

The Alternative Humane Society is one such organization that has worked hard to gather a great deal of support from backers and volunteers. 42 individual donors have contributed to their team for The Race with $2,211 raised so far! While the Alternative Humane Society has no physical location or paid staff, their volunteers’ love for dogs and love for the cause has led them to individually seek out support from friends, coworkers and fellow animal lovers alike. Their large involvement in the Human Race will be sure to help bring good people to good pets that need loving homes. If you are seeking a friendly and furry companion for you or your family, be sure to look out for a few highly adoptable and highly lovable dogs that will be strolling alongside volunteers come this Saturday.

Leading The Race
Published on 05.15.2013

Congratulation again to Law Advocates for being our Mid Point donation prize winners! LAW Advocates has had a long standing relationship with The Human Race as they have annually been one of the events biggest supporters. Their continued dedication this year has led them to strive for a goal of raising $5,000. So far they have gotten 59% of the way and currently stand at $2,934!

Fundraising coordinator and sponsored runner Emma Clark says that the LAW Advocates long standing involvement with the race along with an early on commitment to setting a high donation goal has led them to be so successful in raising funds thus far. At the beginning of their fundraising period, ten “champion” members were challenged to attain a goal of raising $500 each. So far, three advocates have achieved this goal with the others well on their way. The LAW Advocates team is happy to be leading the pack and this year are sure to be an eye grabbing participant in The Race. They hope to go well beyond the fundraising portion of the event to show other competitors that their spirit for the Human Race will continue to hold true well into the future. You can expect to see their team dressed up and eager to cover some distance at the start line come June 1st.
